A Second Chance: Healing and Rehabilitation for Boys in Kenya
A project for Lifesong Kenya
A documentary exploring how Lifesong Kenya supports vulnerable boys through psychosocial care, mentorship and rehabilitation, creating pathways towards healing and restoration.
The Story
What does it take for a boy who has experienced difficult circumstances to begin rebuilding his life?
For vulnerable boys, healing is not always a straightforward journey. It requires safety, patience, guidance and people willing to support them through the process.
Lifesong Kenya works to create opportunities for boys to heal and rebuild their lives through psychosocial care, mentorship and structured rehabilitation support.
Its work recognises that every child deserves an opportunity to recover, grow and imagine a different future.
Our Approach
As part of Spread Your Mission — Season One, Emerge Lens partnered with Lifesong Kenya to document its work supporting boys on their journey towards healing and restoration.
Stories involving vulnerable children require particular care in how they are approached and presented.
Our storytelling focus was on the importance of rehabilitation, mentorship and supportive environments, rather than defining the boys by the difficult circumstances they have experienced.
We wanted audiences to understand the role that consistent care and guidance can play in helping young people rebuild their confidence and sense of possibility.
The intention was to communicate the value of Lifesong Kenya’s work while keeping the dignity of the children at the centre of the story.
