The Story
What happens when young people stop waiting for change and begin creating it themselves?
Mtaa Safi is a youth-led community initiative in Kenya working to transform local neighbourhoods through youth empowerment, grassroots leadership and community-driven solutions.
At the heart of its work is a belief that young people are not just beneficiaries of development. They are capable of identifying challenges, mobilising their communities and leading change.
Our Approach
As part of Spread Your Mission — Season One, Emerge Lens partnered with Mtaa Safi to tell the story of young people taking ownership of their communities.
Our storytelling focus was on the people behind the initiative, their motivation, and the changes they are working to create.
Rather than presenting youth as a group waiting to be empowered, we wanted audiences to recognise them as leaders, problem-solvers and active participants in community development.
