Young Women Leading Change in Kenya
A project for Young Women Leadership Center (YWLC)
An impact story exploring how YWLC supports young women in Kenya to develop confidence, leadership skills and opportunities through mentorship and education.
The Story
What happens when young women are given the opportunity to discover their leadership potential?
Across Kenya, young women have ideas, ambitions and the ability to contribute to change in their communities. But developing that potential often requires access to mentorship, education and opportunities to build confidence.
The Young Women Leadership Center (YWLC) works to empower young women to lead with confidence, courage and purpose.
Through leadership development and mentorship, the organisation supports young women as they develop their abilities and prepare to take on leadership roles.
Our Approach
As part of Spread Your Mission — Season One, Emerge Lens partnered with YWLC to tell the story of its work in developing young women leaders.
Our storytelling focus was on the young women themselves, their aspirations and the opportunities that leadership development can create.
Rather than presenting empowerment as something simply given to young women, we wanted audiences to recognise the potential they already possess and the role that mentorship and education can play in helping them develop it.
The intention was to communicate why investing in young women’s leadership matters, both for the individuals involved and for the communities in which they participate.
The Film
A short impact documentary exploring how YWLC supports young women in Kenya through leadership development, mentorship and education, encouraging a new generation of women to take on leadership roles.
